Horrified speechless!

Okay this:
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1250064768819

is part of why I am homeschooling. I am absolutely horrified speechless.

"I am the LORD your GOD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your GOD, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments." -Exodus 20:2-6

"But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." -Matthew 18:6

When a teacher can get away with writing praise and worship songs to a human leader, and the principal nor the parents say boo about it, we are in a world of trouble. Or maybe 4 generations of a world of trouble.

  1. Thank you for writing about this. I heard a little blurb about it on Fox News yesterday but didn't quite understand what all the fuss was about. At first I thought "they are honoring the first black president, teaching young children to respect the office of the president." But when you call it praise music I can understand why parents are getting all upset.

I live next to a very small school district and if I have to send my kids to public school (cause I can't tell the future) I know for sure that I will be super involved with the teachers and making sure that my children know why I disagree with things that are taught there. I won't just send them to school to be raised by other people :)

  2. That's great Annie! That's why things have gotten so out of hand in public schools now I think- parents just send their kids off and forget that it's THEY (parents) not teachers who will be responsible to God in the end for how and what their children were taught. Alot of parents aren't involved at all. They neither know nor care what their kids learn as long as the kids are out of the house for a few hours a day. What a better place this would be if more parents were more involved!

  3. The first song was a chant, one of the lines of which was something to the effect of "red, yellow, black or white, they're all equal in his sight!" which is almost verbatum a line from a sunday school song... "Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world..." only the "his" in the chant sure wasn't referring to the heavenly God- it was referring to Obama. The second song was to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic. You know, the one that goes, "Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord...""...Glory Glory Hallelujah, HIS truth is marching on!"
The lyrics of the first song, had they been simply stated, may not have been offensive and may have merely rallied support for the president's efforts. The lyrics of the second song border on worshipfulness and are not entirely forthright, as they seem to imply that President Obama is fixing everything that is wrong with this country, which is something that has not happened yet.
Song #1 repetitiously chants "Mmm, mmm, mmm, Barack Hussein Obama" while song #2's repetitions include, "Hooray Mr. President" and "Hip hip hooray."
IMO, one thing or the other might have been a bit unnerving, but add all this together with the song lyric and hymn tune commonly used in the WORSHIP of MY GOD, I feel duly offended and concerned that this has crossed the line between supporting or respecting a leader as should be done, and outright worship of a man as if he were a diety who will fix all our problems with his god-powers.
